Introduction and description
Viruses do not belong to the 5 kingdoms into which life is normally classified – so not animal, vegetable etc. They differ from living cells in at least three ways:
- First they have a relatively simple non cellular organisation
- Second, they have only one type of nucleic acid – either DNA or RNA – living cells contain both types
- Third, they are unable to reproduce independently of cells – they can only reproduce inside living cells.
|
Although, they are not made of cells, the nucleic acids of many viruses contain DNA sequences similar to those of their host cells. They use a variety of strategies to enter a cell. Animal viruses, including those that infect us, enter the cell in their entirety.
They infect every type of living organism, from bacteria [yes even bacteria] to flowering plants and animals. There are some pretty virulent and destructive examples amongst their numbers – the HIV virus, the Ebola virus, the virus that causes smallpox and the influenza viruses. The herpes viruses is best known for causing cold sores and genital herpes, but actually causes a wide range of diseases. The hepatitis B and C viruses, can cause liver cancer.
This is not a medical website, as such I have only included diseases and illnesses which I have found give people a spiritual experience of some sort, so not all the illnesses caused by viruses are on the site, but I have provided this catch-all category to cover observations of experiences caused by viruses, but where the illness has no entry on the site.

Diseases caused by viruses
Amongst the better known diseases are some that may surprise you:
- Heart failure and coronary heart disease –Viral infection is now being implicated in heart disease, with more and more viruses being found that cause a damaged heart, for example
“High levels of CMV [cytomegalovirus] antibodies are significantly associated with incident CHD. [coronary heart disease] Infection with CMV, particularly in more susceptible disease states such as diabetes, may be an important risk factor for CHD. PMID: 10888976” - Atherosclerosis - there is some evidence now on Pubmed to support the theory that some heart attacks and strokes are from a blood clot related to vulnerable soft plaque due to an active infection in the arterial wall, often caused by herpes related cytomegalic virus or chlamydia pneumonia.
- Autoimmune diseases -The viral activity in ‘susceptible hosts’ triggers “multiple host so called autoimmune diseases”, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's syndrome, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, and multiple sclerosis. One very virulent virus associated with MS is EBV – the Epstein-Barr virus, a virus of the herpes family. EBV has the potential to trigger a wide range of autoimmune diseases and cancers.
- Endocrine system diseases - including diseases such as Addison's disease are being linked with a number of viruses, not just virulent viruses like HIV, but ones that may not be immediatley obvious such as the Hepatitis C viruses. Again the EBV virus has also been implicated
- Hepatitis and liver disease - Hepatitis C is an infectious disease primarily affecting the liver, caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The infection is often asymptomatic, but chronic infection can lead to scarring of the liver and ultimately to cirrhosis, which is generally apparent after many years. In some cases, those with cirrhosis will go on to develop liver failure or other complications, including liver cancer or life-threatening esophageal varices and gastric varices.
The hepatitis C virus is spread by blood-to-blood contact. Most people have few, if any symptoms after the initial infection, yet the virus persists in the liver in about 85% of those infected. Those who develop cirrhosis or liver cancer may require a liver transplant, and the virus universally recurs after transplantation.
An estimated 180 million people worldwide are infected with hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is not known to cause disease in other animals. No vaccine against hepatitis C is currently available. The existence of hepatitis C (originally "non-A non-B hepatitis") was postulated in the 1970s and proven in 1989 - Cancer - Viruses are an established cause of cancer in humans and other species. Viruses accepted to cause human cancers include some genotypes of human papillomavirus, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, Epstein-Barr virus, Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus and human T-lymphotropic virus. The most recently discovered human cancer virus is a polyomavirus (Merkel cell polyomavirus) that causes most cases of a rare form of skin cancer called Merkel cell carcinoma. Hepatitis viruses can develop into a chronic viral infection that leads to liver cancer. Infection by human T-lymphotropic virus can lead to leukemia. Human papillomaviruses are an established cause of cancers of cervix, skin, anus, and penis. Within the Herpesviridae, Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus causes Kaposi's sarcoma and body cavity lymphoma, and Epstein–Barr virus causes Burkitt's lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, B lymphoproliferative disorder, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
- Mouth and tooth disease - Herpes simplex infection is very common in the mouth and lips. This virus can cause blisters and sores around the mouth and lips.
- Pancreas disease - which can be caused by a number of viruses including the Coxsackie virus, Cytomegalovirus, Hepatitis B virus, Herpes simplex virus, Mumps, Varicella-zoster virus
- Skin disease - a whole host of skin diseases can be caused by viruses. Just about all the major viruses produce symptoms that affect the skin in some way and in some cases the effects on the skin are about the only indication that the virus has entered the body. Small cold sores, for example, can be an indicator of major viral infection. Viruses are longterm killers, as many lay low in the body until the immune system is at a low ebb, at which pont they re-emerge and attack, thus any form of skin infection needs to be treated seriously. It is clear from the papers on Pubmed that some viruses and the skin infections they cause could only have been acquired via vaccination.
- Stomach disease - there is increasing evidence accumulating for the role of viruses in stomach diseases and notably stomach cancer. For example
"Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappaB) inhibition by NF-kappaB p65-specific siRNA induced a near-cessation of cell proliferation in EBV-positive stomach cancer cell, and notably diminished cell proliferation in EBV- positive Raji lymphoma cell. …., NF-kappaB inhibition may be beneficial in the therapy of EBV-positive stomach cancer, but influence variously EBV-negative stomach cancer. PMID: 19968495" - Intestine disease - Numerous viruses are able to gain access to our systems via the intestines including the rotavirus. Many cause inflammation and damage en route. Enteroviruses, for example, are named by their transmission-route through the intestine (enteric meaning intestinal).
"A 2007 study suggested that acute respiratory or gastrointestinal infections associated with enterovirus may be a factor in chronic fatigue syndrome" - Lung diseases – the viruses that cause the common cold and influenza are well known, but what may be less well known is that there are other viruses that cause influenza like symptoms, for example
"[Of the] 6421 tested positive for viruses: 1690 (26%) influenza A, 567 (9%) influenza B, 277 (4%) parainfluenza 1, 571 (9%) parainfluenza 2, 589 (9%) parainfluenza 3, 742 (12%) adenovirus, and 1985 (31%) respiratory syncytial virus. …. In Curitiba, a high correlation was observed between the decrease in temperature and rainfall and the increase in influenza detection PMID: 23287541"
Cause
The sections I have on each disease provide the detail on how one can pick up a virus. The causes range from people sneezing, touching door knobs, kissing, being bitten by parasites and undergoing organ transplants. But there may be a few causes which deserve to be known more widely. Here we go...
Blood transfusions
Gamma globulin injections are usually given in an attempt to temporarily boost a patient's immunity against disease. Being a product derived from blood, gamma globulin injections, along with blood transfusions and intravenous drug use, can pass along Hepatitis C to their recipients. Once Hepatitis C was identified in 1989, blood banks began screening all blood donors for the presence of the Hepatitis C virus in their bloodstreams. However, since the Hepatitis C virus is known to have existed since at least the 1940s, a gamma globulin shot received prior to the early 1990s put the recipient at risk of being infected by the Hepatitis C virus
Vaccines
SV40 is an abbreviation for Simian virus 40, a polyomavirus that is found in both monkeys and humans. Like other polyomaviruses, SV40 is a DNA virus that has the potential to cause tumors – cancer. And SV40 became a highly controversial subject after it was revealed that millions were exposed to the virus after receiving a contaminated polio vaccine produced between 1955 and 1961.
Laboratory experiments - science
It is clear from the papers on Pubmed that viruses are being researched extensively and laboratories are actually producing new strains of virus, often extraordinarily virulent strains for which the body has no immunological response.
The logic behind this experimentation [or complete lack of logic depending on how you look at this] is that the strains have the potential to kill cancer cells if you infect a person with them - so the idea is that you vaccinate a person with a highly virulent strain of virus in order to kill the cancer cells. Given that cancer is caused by viruses [amongst other pathogens] the logic escapes me. It is certainly a novel thought - to make our bodies the battleground for progressively more and more lethal forms of virus.
Although the evidence for this has been very carefully suppressed, there are a few brave people who have stood up and said these viruses have 'escaped' from the laboraties and are now at large.
Treatments
The standard treatment now advocated by the medical profession is the anti-viral drug.
But nature itself has provided us with some armoury of our own in the form of heat and our immune system. Our immune system will help us if we rest, do not try to do anything, attempt to sleep as much as possible - deep sleep and take plenty of warm water - but not much food. Take minerals in warm water to keep the electrolyte balance up and boost your immune system by helping it with zinc.
Fever and hyperthermia are also nature's way of trying to combat viruses, parasites and bacteria. Viruses do not like heat or the sun.
Many viruses are killed by sunlight and it has been shown that viral infections are occasionally more common in people who live farther from the equator and who tend to work in offices, are kept in school all day without games or outdoor activities, or stay indoors a lot away from the sun. In effect, decreased sunlight exposure has been linked with a higher risk of viral infection The fact a person is not getting enough sunlight can be found out by looking at their vitamin D levels. If these are low and especially if the person is deficient in vitamin D, it is a sure sign they are not getting enough sun.
Again lack of sun makes the person more susceptible to getting the virus. So we are not dealing with a principal cause if we target lack of sunshine, simply a factor that exacerbated the problem, by allowing the spread of the virus and preventing its destruction.
If you have a virus NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING MASSIVE HEAT SURGES THIS IS GOOD – do not try to do anything about it, your system is fighting back against the virus using heat. Keep warm, don’t try to get cool and try to ride it out. The hotter you can stand it the better. If you are able use Warmth.
How it works
Physically
The cause is the virus, you have to trace back to the illness it causes to find out why it gave you a spiritual experience. There are explanations for all the illnesses I have described above.
Logically/functionally
You need to have the Model of the Mind open and have read How spiritual experience works.
Any substance that enters our bodies is assessed for whether it is a help or a threat. When any substance enters via whatever route – by mouth, by wounds, by injection, by inhalation, by smoking or snuffing or smearing on our skin as an ointment and thus absorption via the skin, the body’s defence mechanism checks to see what it is and whether it is friend or foe.
At too high a level, at levels where cell destruction can take place and the body itself is at risk, the cells send out a message to the Will via the nervous system which says HELP HELP HELP THREAT THREAT THREAT we are being attacked we are dying DO SOMETHING.
The Will responds by mobilising its defence systems – immune system, the system of the kidneys and liver which act as filters, the stomach with the acid, the blood filtering system and so on. But at overdose levels the defence systems may be overwhelmed and the messages keep on coming in.
HELP, HELP, HELP, THREAT, THREAT, THREAT, we are being attacked, we are dying DO SOMETHING.
The Will can do no more from a defensive point of view, but it is able to release messages which help to ease the pain and this it does. Thus we get endorphins, for example, being released, which give pain relief and start to shut down functions we no longer have need of because the energy is better targeted to survival.
The presence of all these neurotransmitters is a sure sign of overdose. We don’t get a spiritual experience via neurotransmitters – neurotransmitters like these are just indicators that the body is trying to ease the pain and suffering from the damage it is experiencing.
At this point we might start to get hallucinations as the non essential functions of Memory and Learning are gradually shut down.
But if the overdose is severe and the messages continue HELP, HELP, HELP, THREAT, THREAT, THREAT, we are being attacked, we are dying DO SOMETHING. the Will takes some very drastic action and mobilises all its energy and defenses into the autonomic system.
Now comes some serious activity when we can go out of body, because the Reasoning system Memory and Learning system have all been shut down and we are in effect on automatic pilot – we have gone AWOL.
Unless the autonomic systems can handle the threat, from this point on we are dying.
Death is thus the termination of the biological functions that sustain a living organism and death by viral infection can produce some very profound experiences, simply because function elimination is so very complete.
At the stage where death is inevitable what is going on is a form of controlled shut down of practically all the functions of the mind.
The function of the ‘will’ continues to manage the autonomic systems, but consciousness may be transferred from the Personality to the Higher spirit. The person is actually perceiving as the spirit from that point on.
The perception function and the perceptions go with the Higher Spirit, but all functions relating to the body are gradually shut down in a controlled way by the Will. The last function to be extinguished is the will itself and the will does not extinguish itself until metaphorically speaking the cord has been cut – the person has crossed the bridge or the stream or whatever is metaphorically shown as the divide between life and death.
Once the cord has been cut, the function of will shuts itself off. And you die.
As the perceptions go with the Higher Spirit, the Spirit takes over the process that was formerly the will, the software that controls 'seeing' and 'hearing' have no need to go with the composer because within the spiritual world perception is pure perception unfettered by the software needed to process the input from the 5 senses.
Human emotions stay behind and cease, but the divine emotions suddenly become apparent to the person – they experience – perhaps for the first time what divine love is.
Memory stays with the body and dies. All nervous sensation software/function stays with the body and dies. Reasoning dies, learning dies.
The adapted model is shown below. You are now an angel.

It's a fascinating look at what could happen if – when – a virus mutates. The likelihood of that happening is not as remote as you might think. Watch the video and then decide. Time: 1 hour 28 minutes
And another youtube video called the 5 deadliest diseases in the world - a little too light hearted given the nature of the subject, but accurate. All five are caused by viruses.
