Symbols - What does heaven look like
Cricket
A cricket is a spiritually talented person, often one who has environmental control and is able to go out of body.
Various noises often precede an out of body experience - humming and buzzing being the most frequent [hence the assocation of spiritual travellers with bees], but another sound is a sort of chirruping.
The very fact a cricket can sing makes them special too and aligns them, in some ways, symbolically with birds.
Some of the symbolism also derives from the cricket's hopping ability, which aligns with the concept of the Giant strides and 'three mile boots' - the ability to move great distances with almost effortless ease, by taking giant strides.
A green cricket uses the symbolism of green meaning new or fresh, so a green cricket is a initiate - a beginner on the spiritual path.
The folklore and mythology surrounding crickets is extensive. The singing of crickets in the folklore of Brazil and elsewhere is sometimes taken to be a sign of impending rain.......
The mole cricket locally known as "paquinha", "jeguinho", "cachorrinho-d'água", or "cava-chão" (genera Scapteriscus and Neocurtilla, Gryllotalpidae) is said to predict rain when it digs into the Earth. … In Zambia, the Gryllotalpa africanus cricket is held to bring good fortune to anyone who sees it.
And indeed crickets do sometimes indicate that rain is about to fall physically, but rain is also a symbol meaning spirit input thus symbolically if a 'cricket' - an initiate - 'sings' [chants for example] he will hopefully receive spirit input.
There is one additional bit of symbolism which I have had to guess the meaning of based on other symbols..............
Crickets are popular pets and are considered good luck in some countries; in China, crickets are sometimes kept in cages. It is also common to have them as caged pets in some European countries, particularly in the Iberian Peninsula.
A cage symbolically is the body - spirit trapped in body, thus the symbolism here is negative - the trapping of a spiritually talented person a potential adept in a body or cage.
