Some science behind the scenes
Direct induction of an electric current
If an electrically conductive material is brought close to an electric current, a current will be generated in that object - see electrical conductivity of various materials.
Generally the metals are highly conductive – silver, gold, even iron. The source of current may be static electricity, electrical equipment producing an electric charge or the earth’s telluric currents.
