Some science behind the scenes
Perineum [HUIYIN CO-1]
The perineum is a trigger point. It is found in both males and females and defined as “the surface region between the pubic symphysis and the coccyx, it is a region of the body inferior to the pelvic diaphragm and between the legs. It is a diamond-shaped area on the inferior surface of the trunk that includes the anus and, in females, the vagina”.
It is also stated to be an “erogenous zone” for both males and females.
The perineum has a key role to play because it lies at the confluence of four main meridians as well as being both a source of high nervous energy and a point of considerable blood flow. In TCM it is the junction point of the Governing, Conceptor, Thrusting and Yin Heel vessels in particular. Anatomically it is also next to the urethra channel where – in a man - the semen flows from the testicles to the penis. Its name in TCM is HUIYIN CO-1.

The identical pressure point is used and exactly the same theoretical basis is in operation in yoga.
