Delayed puberty
Category: Illness or disabilities
Type
Involuntary
Introduction and description
Delayed puberty is when a person has passed the ‘usual’ age of onset of puberty with no physical or hormonal signs that it is beginning.
This then begs the question, what is ‘usual’ and the definition is based on averages, not an entirely satisfactory method. It is only a problem if the cause needs to be addressed – for example malnutrition, virus, bacterial attack, fungal attack or radiation damage for example.
For more details of both causes and cures see Estrogen imbalance.
For more general information on Estrogen itself and its role in the reproductive system see Estrogen.
