Type of Spiritual Experience
Background
One of the key ways to help us stop the chattering mind and gain peace of mind and spiritual experience is to clear the memory of rubbish. The Zoroastrian system has a number of ways in which this is done. There are prayers for help in ‘expunging demons’ – purification processes that help heal wounds of the memory. This may be done ritually using water as a symbol. And there are rules to be followed to stop the memory filling up with rubbish and telling the truth is a way of dong this. The reason why Telling the Truth helps is explained in the common steps section – follow the link.
It is worth adding that the majority of other steps described under the heading ‘suppress memory on the site are also incorporated into Zoroastrianism.
A description of the experience
Yasna 60. PRAYERS FOR THE DWELLING OF THE SACRIFICER.
5. May Sraosha (Obedience) conquer disobedience within this house,
and may peace triumph over discord here,
and generous giving over avarice,
reverence over contempt,
speech with truthful words over lying utterance.
May the Righteous Order gain the victory over the Demon of the Lie.
