Thoughts through Space – Sir Hubert Wilkins and Harold M Sherman
For instance: On November 6th I found that I would need considerably more cash than I had with me. It had been arranged to make payments direct to the personal accounts of my staff in their own banks, but owing to the unexpected delay some of the staff wished to receive some payments directly while still in Winnipeg. To make these payments was possible, of course, but it meant that I would have to write my bank and alter existing arrangements. It would also make it necessary for me to ask some bank manager in Winnipeg to cash, on sight, my personal check.
I have an inherent dislike of asking such favors, and since it was a Saturday when the men asked for the money-with Sunday a non-business day-I suggested to them that they might wait until Tuesday for the cash, by which time the bank in Winnipeg could clear my personal check on a New York bank, and provide me with the cash.
This was satisfactory to the men, and I went to the bank to make the necessary arrangements. But like the trusting, good fellow he was, the manager insisted upon honoring my personal check on sight, and I was able to pay the men on Saturday.
I had given much concentrated thought to the receipt of cash on Tuesday the 9th, and it is curious, although it may not be at all significant, that Sherman in his recordings on Tuesday the 9th wrote:
"You received some money today – I see you get cash- you are in a bank. "
On the 6th I received the cash which I had planned to receive on the 9th. It was the only time I had need to draw cash from a bank during the several months of our work in the north. It was the only time that Sherman referred to bank and cash in his recordings.
Could it have been that my subconscious mind had actually given off stimuli on the 9th in connection with a plan I had arranged to carry out on the 9th, though the plan had actually and unexpectedly been carried out on the 6th?
Or was it that Sherman's mind had been stimulated on the 9th by thoughts I had emitted on the 6th?
