Background
A description of the experience
As described in Spiritism (Western Fakirism) Study Historical, Critical and Experimental - Dr. Paul Gibier [1887]
Here is Mr. Serjeant Cox's account confirmed by Mr. Russel Wallace:
"I heard a counter boy, uneducated, supporting, when he was in a trance, a conversation with a gathering of philosophers about reason and foreknowledge, will and fate, and challenging them.
I asked him the most difficult questions of psychology, and I received answers that were always sensible, always full of strength, and invariably expressed in chosen and elegant language. However, a quarter of an hour later, when he was in his natural state, he was unable to answer the simplest question on a philosophical subject, and still had difficulty finding sufficient language to express the most common ideas."
