Experiments in mental suggestion – Professor L L Vasiliev
Experiment of 5/4/1934.The subject, Fedorova, came to the laboratory of the Institute for Brain Research at 8:25 P.M. Tomashevsky met her and she lay down on the couch in the small room. It was decided in advance that the sender would be Dr. Kaialov who during the experiment was in the building of the Psychotherapeutic Department in Strike Street at a distance of about 7,770 m from the laboratory.
The sender did not know the location of the laboratory and had never been there; he did not know Tomashevsky who was acting as observer, and was with the subject. Fedorova was one of Dr. Kaialov’s patients and he was aware that she was the percipient in the experiment.
The watches of sender and observer were compared in advance by telephone.
At 8:50 Dr. Kaialov began mental suggestion to go to sleep. At that same moment (8:50) the subject said: "I must write to Kaialov. But now I won’t write after all."
At 9:00 the subject says: "Somehow or another it is peaceful. I dont want to move. My face feels as if it wasn’t mine."
At 9:03: "I would like to close my eyes." She closes her eyes, and at 9:04 goes into hypnosis.
At 9:30 Kaialov begins to send suggestions for her to wake up.
At 9:40 the subject announces: "I feel I must open my eyes." She opens her eyes and stares at one point, but at 9:44 she again closes her eyes.
At 9:45 the subject again declares: "Strange, I want to wake up again" and while saying so she wakes up completely.
