A description of the experience
The beginnings of Seership – Vincent Turvey
On January 11, 1908, a gentleman called to see me, and after a little conversation on Spiritualism and kindred topics, he asked me to psychometrize a pair of gloves that belonged to his son.
I took the gloves in my hand and immediately "sensed" certain traits of character, etc., which were very difficult to mention to a father about his son. However, I said what the gloves “told" me, and added, "I may of course be mistaken"
To judge by the looks and words of my visitor I was most decidedly wrong in every particular. I knew that I was right for all that, and the following letter shows an extraordinary solution of the case. It is also another blow to the so-called explanation "Telepathy”
(No. 15.)
Bournemouth,
Jan. 30 1908.
DEAR MR. TURVEY,
I have much pleasure in stating that, on January 11, I called on you, and in course of conversation asked you to psychometrize a pair of gloves belonging to my son. Your description was wrong, both as regards my son's appearance and character. When I got home, however, I found on inquiry that the gloves had been left for several days in another man's house, and that most probably this man had worn them. The description you gave exactly fitted this man's appearance and character.
Yours,
J- M- K-.
