A description of the experience
Leo Tolstoy - Confession
Thus the force of life was renewed in me and I began again to live.
I gave up the life of the world having recognized that it was not life, but only a parody of life and the superfluous condition in which we live prevents us from understanding life. In effect I had to stop attaching myself to the exceptions, the parasites of life, and start to follow the life of the working people, of those who produce life and give it meaning.
The simple people, the workers around me, it was to these Russian people that I turned. And they gave me the meaning of life….
…………..I realised that divine truth is not accessible to all men: it appears only to men united by love. To perceive the truth, you must not divide and separate and in order not to divide, we must love even those with whom we are not in agreement and reconcile with them. The truth will open to love.
…..I submitted to the traditions which held all mankind; I united with my ancestors, to those I loved, my father, my mother. They and all who had lived before and believed and lived, and had led me. I also reunited with all those millions of men of the people I respected.
At Mass, the most serious words to me were:
"Let us love one another and be united in one faith."
