Type of Spiritual Experience
Background
According to a number of sources there appear to be a group of souls in the spirit world that remain in contact with humans and these are:
- The newly dead – who may linger for some time or only a short time
- Souls of people who have had a traumatic sudden death and do not actually know they are dead – they stay in a sort of odd time warp of perception unable to ‘move on’
- Souls who cling to the physical world unable to move on because of their strong attachment for someone in the physical or the things of the physical world – these souls may become ‘possessors’
According to people like Rudolph Steiner and Robert Monroe, these disembodied souls need help, it is not us who should be asking for help from them, it is us that should be helping them to ‘move on’. They are potentially disruptive and often ‘exist’ in a sort of hellish limbo, unaware of why they are there or what they should be doing next.
Steiner implies in this extract that you can also find extremely suspect higher spirits unless you are really careful “too good for the bodies of a subordinate order and for the other bodies too bad. “…
A description of the experience
Let us suppose [a person] reaches what is to be reached in 16 incarnations… the earth does not wait for him, the earth goes forward and he finally arrives at a point where he can no longer incorporate in a human body, for none are in existence. There will be no more bodies in which souls that have grown too much involved in their bodily nature can incarnate.
Such souls lose the possibility of incarnation and find no other opportunity…. These people have gone so far that they have no other opportunity of incarnating in the normal course of evolution.
They are, as it were, too good for the bodies of a subordinate order and for the other bodies too bad. They must therefore live a bodiless existence.
