A description of the experience
Symphony
Sometimes on great smooth sweeps
Of upward flying music
My soul leaps up to follow
On the swift note's wing
To the unseen islands of the mind,
Where, in a day as cool as daffodils
And clear and calm as new shone glass,
Music has life in majesty and joy
My soul leaps up to follow
And - as the air rises from the symphony,
Like some bright tender bud that thrusts
Warm blossoms through the pregnant earth
And blooms and blooms again to touch my lips
It longs to follow to the silent wood
Where tallest saplings whisper magic fantasies
Where the glistening wings of melody
Have flown on measured beats of souls in dreams.
My soul yearns for a clean wing's clear sky freedom;
Strains,
Watching the birds of song and harmony climbing the wind
Striking beyond the sight
Above the metal boundary of earth.
