Love is the Link – Dr Pamela Kircher
Sheena Harden's story was typical. It began in 1968 when Sheena's mother was very ill with double pneumonia and pleurisy.
One night when her illness was at its height and she was in great pain she became aware of someone standing at the foot of her bed. An absolute feeling of calm came over her and she realized that it was her father who had recently died. He was smiling at her and holding out his hand to her. She wanted to go with him and began to leave her body to go with him but he shook his head and communicated to her that it wasn't her time and that her family needed her. She felt distraught as she longed to go with him and be out of her pain but he told her that when it was her time he would be there to take her with him.
Sheena continues the story:
Then years later, in January 1978, my mother was in hospital, seriously ill after an operation. When, I visited her one afternoon she started to talk to me about what I should do after she had gone, how to look after the family, etc. I asked her where she was going and she said she was going to die - all her family had come to visit that afternoon (her mother, brother and sister had, all died within the last eight years) and they were ready for her in heaven and it was her time to go. Her father had again promised to return 'very soon' to get her. She described, them as standing in a semi-circle and all looking very happy. She was very excited about seeing them.
Obviously, I was a little upset but actually don't think I took much, notice at the time. My father had just asked the doctors how she was, and they said she was considered to be 'on the mend’, and although her recovery would be slow, she was out of danger. My mother died very suddenly in the early hours of the next morning!
