A Seaside Happy Poem
The sun is bright, the sea is calm, the waves they are quite flat (te)
I’m sitting in the coffee shop with a nice warm cup of latte
My friends are working on the boat, so I am all alone
So I’ve sat out on the terrace to write you a jolly poem
The sun is warm and cheerful, so I’m feeling much more gay
There’s no cloud up in the blue sky, it is a lovely day
I’ve been round all the clothes shops and bought some food for lunch
But I haven’t spent a fortune, so I’m really pleased as punch
The sea is sparkling from the sun, it’s turned a lovely blue
I wish that you were here my dear so that you could see it too
The golden sands are empty, but there are some boats around
Bobbing in the water with a watery splashy sound
There are people having cream cakes, there are people having tarts
Frangipani, treacle, lemon curd – too much temptation for a start!
There are primroses in the gardens and camellias in full bloom
And the smell of strawberry milkshake is wafting round the room
My friends have just texted me to say it’s going fine
And they’ll finish by late lunch time, so we have some extra time
So maybe we go to the beach – safe sands, do you recall?
Where you ran out of diesel, so we all sat by the wall
I want to take some photos of the waves out by the bar
Though it’s calm inside the harbour, it is rough when you go far
There’re huge breakers crashing on the rocks beyond the harbour mouth
And a warm wind blowing very strongly from the distant south
The seagulls are real noisy and there’re are loads of them about
Some visitors have been ‘spotted’ I can tell because they shout
It’s supposed to be quite lucky to be crapped on by a gull
But I suspect this was invented by a zealous PR girl
