A description of the experience
The World as Will and Idea – Arthur Schopenhauer
Inspiration has rightly been recognised as an essential element of genius; indeed it has sometimes even been regarded as identical with it; but the latter is a mistake.
The objects of genius as such are the eternal Ideas – the permanent essential forms of the world and all its phenomena – whereas the knowledge of the Idea is necessary knowledge through perception and is not abstract.
