The Mystery of the Human Double – Ralph Shirley
Another story of Dr. Werner's has reference to a certain Professor Happach, who was in the habit of being called every morning by an elderly maidservant.
She generally went to check the hour by looking at a clock which stood under the mirror in his bedroom.
On one occasion she came in (as he thought) unusually silently, looked at the clock, came to his bedside, and instead of speaking suddenly turned and left the room.
Her manner seeming to him very strange, he called after her, and when she did not answer he jumped out of bed and followed her, only to find her fast asleep in her own bed.
The same thing occurred subsequently on a number of different occasions with the same woman.
