Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

This lake was her brain and her pool of ideas.

The smaller the lake, the more narrow the focus of the ideas and perhaps the more outdated.  Any form of vision in which someone is on a lake but perhaps simply sailing round and round in circles, is just showing them that they are sailing in their own pool, or an old pool.  The following vision is a perfect example of this.  The raft is a stable boat, so the person is sailing on a stable base, but in a narrow restricted pool of ideas……..

The danger may be simply that narrow pools of ideas are liable to be disrupted and even destroyed.  It was not the particular spot that was dangerous, but the fact that they were all on a lake threatened with removal.  At that time, the lake was unruffled, it appeared to be a nice setting.

If we take a real example.  The Incas and Aztecs before the Spanish arrived probably thought that the ‘cultural lake’ on which they sailed was pleasant and stable and going to be there for ever.  It provided a good way of life  and seemed unthreatened by anything outside.

Then along came the Spanish.

End of lake.

A description of the experience

This dream was very short, I woke before anything much happened, but here goes anyway.

I was on a very large raft.  It had a sort of central cabin and a sail and we [?] – I think it was we – were sailing on a large inland lake.  It was relatively calm and of course the raft just sort of scudded along at a gentle rate, and being a raft it just glided through the water – it was all rather realistic looking back and quite pleasant.  The lake at one end was mountains, not particularly high, the other end there was nothing.

It was sunny and the sky was blue and we sailed towards the shore where any number of other rafts were all moored, loads of them all along the shoreline.  There was just enough room for ours, but the people in the other raft said where we had moored wasn’t a good place because it was not safe.  I never found out why it wasn’t safe because I woke up, but there seemed nothing about the place – tucked into a small bay and surrounded by grassy meadows and clusters of nice trees – that would make it not safe.

Anyway that was that.  End of dream
