Lorna Middleton has sent many accurate predictions of plane crashes to both the London Premonitions Bureau and the Central Premonitions Registry. On January 11th 1968, she wrote to Dr. Barker that there would be a plane crash in the snow:
". . . lots of snow and flashes of orange light'.
she thought it would happen in either Canada or Switzerland.
On January 23, about two weeks later (most premonitions sent to the Bureau and the Registry seem to come about two weeks in advance), a B-52 bomber crashed through seven-foot thick ice in Greenland Bay, east of Canada. The resulting fire ("flashes of orange light") may have melted the ice, and the load of bombs sank to the sea bed.
One of Miss Middleton's most spectacular premonitions was sent to the central Premonitions Registry on December 1st 1969
Dear Mr. Nelson:
I have a premonition there will be a disaster connected with a mountain. A plane may crash. I see people climbing up a side of the mountain in mud mainly, but they are heavily clothed. They climb because of an accident. Plane or train-it is always difficult to distinguish . . .
With the letter she enclosed, as she so often does, a sketch she had drawn, this time of men and women pulling themselves up the side of a steep mountain.
On December 8, 1969, a news dispatch from Athens, Greece, reported that ninety persons were killed when an Olympic Airways DC-68 plane crashed into Mount Paneion during a storm. Rescue workers climbed up the side of the mountain for three quarters of an hour before they reached the scene of the wreckage.
