A description of the experience
Wolf Messing – the true story of Russia’s greatest psychic – Tatiana Lungin
"The schedule gave me four free days a week," Wolf continued as he puffed away, "and I tried to make the maximum use of them by devoting all my time to psychological exercises. Every day I headed for the Berlin market and turned on my psychic sense, trying to penetrate the thoughts of the merchants. I tried to hear their inner-most secrets. Household worries, the intrigues of neighbours, dreams of eligible bachelors - the blonde heads of the young peasants and the respectable burghers transmitted all such information to me.
"But I wanted not only to hear their thoughts, but to verify the accuracy of my perceptions. I walked up to the market tables, and looked intently into my subjects' eyes, and said such things as, 'Don't worry, dear Gretchen. Don’t think about it. Everything will be all right, trust in fate . . . Hans will return to you.' Cries of astonishment or embarrassed silences convinced me that I was right.
I spent more than a year training myself in such a manner.
