Background
A description of the experience
Memantine is marketed under the brands Axura and Akatinol, Namenda , Ebixa and Abixa and Memox. Memantine acts as an agonist at the dopamine D2 receptor. It also acts at Glutamatergic, Serotonergic and Cholinergic receptors, so again it is highly complex. Two experiences are even listed on EROWID. ‘In clinical applications there is a large accumulation of memantine with only one dose per day. If you are taking a large dose it will take some time until it hits you, and the effect is prolonged, because it remains in the body for a very long time (the half-life is 60 to 80 hours).
It is also the subject of abuse - see EROWID link
