A description of the experience
Quoted in D D Home his life his mission – Madam Home
Ward Cheney, Home's host of 1852, died at South Manchester in 1876. While staying with the Cheneys in 1876, the first instance of Home being lifted in the air occurred.
During these elevations or levitations, I feel no hands supporting me, and since the first time, I have never felt fear; though, should I have fallen from the ceiling of some rooms in which I have been raised, I could not have escaped serious injury. I am generally lifted up perpendicularly; my arms frequently become rigid, and are drawn above my head, as if I were grasping the unseen power which slowly raises me from the floor.
