Manic affection cannot be relied upon.
It is like the momentary affection of a drunk and may be equally unrelated to the person on whom it is lavished.
The elated manic is simply overflowing with love and happiness and for the instant, he treasures the person or persons in his company.
But when the mood changes, he wonders what he ever saw in those he appreciated so much before.
Manic depressives are capable of sustained love that continues even during their depressions, but their moods influence the fervour of their devotion
