B J Laubscher – Where Mystery dwells
"In 1939 my husband and I attended the celebration of the golden wedding of my parents. Both were in apparent good health and also in good spirits. It was a Friday evening and most of my dream premonitions have occurred on a Friday.
During that night I had a dream of my mother. Once again it was a lovely moonlight night. I saw my mother walking along a deserted stretch of beach. The sea was calm and I could see the bottom. I was frantically trying to reach her and was calling out to her to stop. She did stop and turned round to give me a beautiful smile, then said :
'Nae lass, don't try to stop me, I must go my way-'tis time.'
"She then walked away towards the edge of the sea. Again I called and although she turned once to smile at me, she did not speak but walked into the water until it closed over her head.
Even then when under the water I could see her walking, so clear was the water. I woke my husband and said :'Jack my mother is going to die.' He replied :'Nonsense, we only saw her today and she was all right' and turned over and went to sleep.
I did not sleep, but stayed awake awaiting the news which I knew would come and sure enough at about 9 a.m. my father telephoned and said that my mother had suffered a stroke during the night and was unconscious. She never regained consciousness and died ten days later."
