Prayer to Amitayus
Kwangdok, a celibate ascetic, lived in the village of West Punhwang and endeavored to practice virtue. He is said to have gone to the Western Paradise of Amitayus, as he had prayed.
O moon,
Go to the West, and
Pray to Amitayus
And tell
That there is one who
Adores the Buddha of Infinite Life and
Longs for the Pure Land,
Praying before Him with folded hands.
Ah, would he leave me out
When he fulfills the forty-eight vows?
