A description of the experience
William Gerhardie - Resurrection
All anxiety eliminated, habit deprived of his corroding powet, life a any point, as viewed through the window of my running train, appeared a perfect picture of still life, and, like a perfect picture, was beautiful.
The ordedy routine, the smallest details, even an illness, a visit to the doctor, must now appear like paradise. Any day or hour of one's life must so appear, once it is over. So that even an appointment with my tailor, whose utter lack of intellectual interests had always distressed me, now makes me drink in everything he says like the nectar that it is.
'I see,' he says, ' the Bolton Wanderers have beaten Manchester by six to two.' I look into his face with human interest, with rapture. ' By six to two, you say ? ' How good ! How good ! I was alive, as I had never been, and living my life which I had not noticed.
'Vous perdrez votre jeunesse, vous perdrez votre sante'
My life was so fulI, it threatened to drown me in ecstasy.
