Type of Spiritual Experience
Background
Some people do not wilfully go against their destiny - the plan they have been allocated, - they just never get to grips with what it is and ramble through life full of good intentions, not listening to the spiritual insights they are given and bumbling along doing all the things they shouldn't be doing.
They are recognisable because they always seem somehow not well suited to what they have chosen to tackle and struggle with what they have decided to do. Maybe they are ill a lot, or never manage to complete what they start. Perhaps everything they tackle goes wrong.
A description of the experience
Ralph Waldo Emerson – Character
I knew an amiable and accomplished person who undertook a practical reform, yet I was never able to find in him the enterprise of love he took in hand. He adopted it by ear and by the understanding, from the books he had been reading. All his action was tentative, a piece of the city carried out into the fields, and was the city still and no new fact, and could not inspire enthusiasm. Had there been something latent in the man, a terrible undemonstrated genius agitating and embarrassing his demeanor we had watched for its advent.
