Edgar Cayce – Joseph Millard
“Edgar, do you think you could find that man in New York and describe what he's doing at the time so completely that there can't be any question of your clairvoyance?”
"I don't know," Edgar said, “but I did that with some people in Paris once. I'm willing to try”.
The reading was taken the next morning. “Yes, we have the body," Edgar said almost immediately after the suggestion. He gave the exact time. "He is coming along a busy street, stopping to speak to acquaintances on the way to his office. The street sign says it is William Street. He normally smokes cigarettes, but this morning he feels like having a cigar. He stops in a cigar store and selects two."
Edgar went on, locating the cigar store, naming the brand. The man lit one, put the other in his pocket, and went on to his office building. While the man waited for the elevator, Edgar said, "We'll have him walk upstairs so he’ll remember it”. He told of the man's growing impatience and finally taking the stairs, whistling 'Annie Laurie’
A man was waiting in his office to discuss property at the end of the William Street bridge and a case concerning it that was coming up in surrogate court at three that afternoon. Afterward, the man sat down to open his mail. Edgar detailed a bill and a business letter. A third letter, from the man's sweetheart, Edgar modestly refused to read, but he described a phone call from a man named Donagan.
The local man raced out to telegraph the full details to his friend in NewYork. Edgar glanced over the report on his reading. He said suddenly, "Hey, I made a mistake here. I said it was nine o'clock in the morning but it was only eight o’clock”.
Blackburn grinned. "That's an extra convincer. You gave the correct New York time, which is one hour later than our central Standard time."
"It is?" Edgar said blankly. “What do you know? I’ve learned something."
An hour or so later, they got an answering telegram
“Absolutely correct to last detail. Hang onto that man”
