A description of the experience
As quoted by Gabriel Delanne - Materials for use in the Study of Reincarnation
Let us end this brief review of the experimental cases by quoting the report taken from the archives of the Huesca city group led by Mr. Domingo-Montréal. It is quite informative as we will be able to judge [Revue scientifique et morale du spiritisme. Presse espagnole, p. 442, année 1912].
From 1881 to 1884, one met in the streets of Huesca a person whom one knew only under the name of crazy Suciac. He was dressed in a burlesque manner, spoke alone, sometimes ran aimlessly, sometimes walked solemnly and did not answer any of the questions addressed to him. Finally, as he became dangerous, he had to be closely monitored.
In the same city, a group for spiritualist studies was formed among people of average culture, with Domingo Montreal as president and Sanchez Antonio as medium. The latter had this particularity that, being completely illiterate, he often wrote without punctuation, sometimes with perfect proofreading, and sometimes with long communications.
The president decided to evoke the madman's spirit when he seemed to be sleeping and he got several messages from it. Finally the mad Suciac died, and, spontaneously, shortly afterwards, he gave a message through the illiterate medium Antonio that he had been Lord de Sangarren; that he had had a guilty conduct and that the life during which we had known him had been imposed on him as atonement. He said that we would find confirmation of his words in the archives that still exist in what was once his castle.
I went with Mr. Severo Lain and Mr. Marvallo Ballestar to the ancient stately home, where we were told that there were no records. Disappointed, we met at a séance to report on the outcome of our mission. Antonio wrote then that if we returned to the castle, we would find all the documents we wanted near the kitchen fireplace, in a hiding place.
They did, and when we returned to Sangarren, we were allowed to explore the wall, and to our amazement we found a whole series of scrolls in a small box. They were brought back to Huesca, where they were translated by Professor Oscariz and confirmed in every way the statements of the spirit.
