Of the six known lysergic acid derivatives in the morning glory seed, five have been completely identified.
It is possible that some of the ingredients are capable of constricting small arteries. If the seeds are taken frequently in large amounts, there may arise symptoms of ergotism, a circulatory disturbance manifested first by numbness and tingling of the extremities and culminating in tissue damage to the fingers and toes.
