Premonitions: A leap in to the future – Herbert Greenhouse [1971]
Count Louis Hamon (Cheiro), the palm-reading psychic was consulted by many kings who wanted to know about their future. In 1900 King Humbert of Italy, who had had a premonition that he would be killed, asked Hamon for a reading. The Count looked at him and sensed that he would be assassinated three months later. On July 29, 1900, the King was shot by Bresci, an anarchist.
Camille Flammarion, the astronomer, writes that a non-professional psychic also had a premonition of Humbert's death. The night before the King was killed, a man in Constantinople woke suddenly and said to his wife, "They have shot the King of Italy." An hour later he looked out the window and saw flags being lowered to half-mast.
