Liam Cassidy:
"When I was young, about nine or ten, I often talked to this older man. I’d be playing with my PlayStation, and he’d be there with me. I’d tell him stuff about my life. He was like an older version of Joe. I enjoyed talking to him.
Later on, I realized that man was Joe’s father, my grandfather, who died before I was born. It didn’t seem strange to me, because I knew Joe saw spirits too. Joe realized what I was doing.
I think Joe was aware that I was like him, but he was hoping that I wasn’t. I remember one time he drove me past this house. He said, ‘My father drove me past this house when I was your age. One day I’ll tell you the story about it. Look, there it is.’ He pointed to this derelict house. And suddenly I was in one of the rooms. The first thing I saw was a dress on the bed. Then I saw a wardrobe. The room was painted cream. As I was leaving he house I could see this downstairs room. It was a black, dark room and it gave me a bad feeling. The whole thing scared me. My body was in the car, but I wasn’t. I had no clue what was going on. I was only twelve.
When I was back in the car, I said, ‘Oh my God.’
Joe said later that only thirty seconds had passed, but to me it felt much longer. When I got home, I drew the inside of the house and told Joe about the cream room. He was impressed. I’d seen something in that house that he hadn’t. I’d seen it as it was in the past. I realized I was good at what Joe did."
