Background
The slug looks up to the man and says 'Hah, I know what you're thinking'.
Since the slug has none of the processes of the man, there is no way the slug will ever know the man or be able to comprehend what the man is thinking.
The slug will only ever 'know' the slug.
And so it is with us, we the slugs, will never 'know' God.

The sense of conscious creatures to be borne.
