Ernesto Bozzano - Psychic phenomena at the moment of death [110 cases suggesting survival after death]
Fourth category Cases of deathbed apparitions, coinciding with similar preannouncements or confirmations, obtained through the medium channel.
40-th case. - This case became known after the death of Mr. Ferneyhough, from Maritzburg (Cape Town Colony), a well-known English spiritualist, director of spiritualist magazines and medium writer. I take this paragraph from the obituary Light published (1912, p. 42).
On February 22, 1892, Mr. Ferneyhough had the misfortune to lose his firstborn child, Reginald, 5 years old. At that time spiritualist doctrines were not attractive to him, but some time later, he decided to become involved in an experimental circle and, on 28 November 1894, his personal diary reads:
"The first proof of identification came to me just as I was about to give up research. A certain Mrs. Nelson manifested herself, who had been a nurse in Maritzburg during her life, and who dictated:
‘Go immediately to your home, for that is where your son is’".
The meaning of the message was related to the illness of his other little boy Cyril. Mr. Ferneyhough immediately got the impression - which was later perfectly justified - that "the child at home" was Reginald, who had come to welcome his little brother Cyril, who might also possibly be about to die.
And the fact that this impression was not the fruit of an exalted imagination is confirmed by this, that the sick child, Cyril, a moment before he died, pronounced with annoyance the name of his little brother Reginald, telling him to leave, that he did not want to go with him, that he should not have been there, and that he wanted to stay with his mother.
