A description of the experience
Ernesto Bozzano - Psychic phenomena at the moment of death [110 cases suggesting survival after death]
Third category Cases in which other people, collectively with the dying person, perceive the same ghost of the deceased.
31-st case. - I begin with an episode where there is simultaneity of perceptions between the patient and the one who assists him, although the perceptions of the one and the other differ from each other.
I extract it from the Journal of the American S.P.R. (1918, 503).
Mrs. Laura C. Homers writes:
Mr. Quimby remained in bed about three weeks, and during the last sixteen days he took no food or medicine. In the second week of his illness, around 11 o'clock in the evening, I happened to see beside the bed a sort of rather opaque nebulosity, located between the patient and me, having the shape of a big beet with the tip facing the ground, about one and a half feet in length, and perhaps as deep.
It was three or four feet off the ground, measuring the manifestation of its summit. My first thought was that it was some smoke, although this phenomenon seemed too opaque to be such, and that it remained motionless on the spot.
Also, from the point where I was, I could see in the other rooms, and there was no smoke anywhere. It remained motionless at the same point for a long period of time, and I cannot say when and how it disappeared.
When I saw it no more, I reported the curious experience to the patient, and he replied: "I felt that my mother was near me; now I know it."
