Ernesto Bozzano - Psychic phenomena at the moment of death [110 cases suggesting survival after death]
Second category - Cases in which the appearances of deceased are still perceived only by the patient, but relate to persons whose death he did not know.
27-th case. - This other case was communicated to the "Society for P.R." by Rev. J. T. Macdonnald, who had it first hand from Miss Ogle, sister of the percipient:
Manchester, November 9, 1884.
My brother John Alkin Ogle died in Leeds on July 17, 1879. About an hour before his death, he had the vision of his brother, who had died sixteen years earlier, and he appeared to look at him with an expression of deep surprise, shouting: "Joe! Joe!"
Immediately afterward, giving even more lively signs of astonishment, he exclaimed: "You, Georges Hanley!"
On hearing these words, my mother, who had come from Melbourne, a town forty miles from Leeds, where George Hanley lived, was extremely surprised: "How odd," she said, "to see George, who died ten days ago!"
Then, addressing my sister-in-law, she asked if the patient had been informed - which she replied negatively. It was found that my mother was the only person present who knew of the fact; I was present and I attended this scene.
Signed: Harriet H. Oogle.
In answering questions about this case, Miss Ogle later wrote to the "Society of P.R.":
My brother John Alkin Ogle was not delirious and had all his knowledge when he said the words I reported. George Hanley was for him only a mere acquaintance and not a close friend. Never before had anyone spoken of Hanley's death. (Proceedings of the S.P.R., Vol.V, 460.)
