A description of the experience
Experiences of a Psychical researcher – Raymond Bayless
In the summer of 1957, just prior to my marriage, I was teaching a student (I am by profession an artist) in a studio in West Los Angeles when a truly mysterious and utterly baffling incident occurred.
The room we were using was bare except for one easel and two four-legged stools. The room was brightly lit by sunshine, which shone through a large north store window. The linoleum floor, composed of squares, was completely free from any rug. I was showing my student a point about painting and was using a long-handled Delta No. 2 brush. Inadvertently I dropped it. We both heard it strike the bare floor, but when I reached down to get it, it was nowhere to be seen. It is obviously impossible for a brush to disappear on an unadorned, brightly lit linoleum floor, but that is precisely what happened.
We both looked, but that exasperating brush, to all intents and purposes, had disappeared from this earth and never turned up again.
I have absolutely no explanation to offer and can only give the bare facts as they occurred. The incident was perfectly witnessed, impossible to explain, and one which I will always remember.
