Background
A description of the experience
Towards the end of the experiments, Mr. Courtier, Secretary General of the Institute, led my father into a room next to the one where the piano was located and asked him, to see if I was indeed independent of the wishes of the attendees, to suggest a piece of gay music, a polka, for example.
It was agreed, and when they entered the experimental room, they both focused their thoughts on me to get what they wanted.
Do you have any idea what happened?
No? well, instead of a polka, it was a funeral march that was played by Chopin's spirit!
You can therefore see by this last point that, first of all, the phenomenon is independent of any suggestion on the part of the listeners and that, moreover, the spirit, to support the proof that it is indeed the possessor of its own will, performed a piece of a genre completely opposite to the desire of Mr. Courtier and my father.
I was of course completely unaware of the plot and was quite surprised when Mr. Courtier informed me of the test he had attempted.
