XII 1 Hymn to goddess Earth Part 11
This Earth, upon whom the biped birds fly together,
the flamingoes, eagles, birds of prey, and fowls;
upon whom Matarisvan, the wind, hastens,
raising the dust, and tossing the trees-
as the wind blows forth and back the flame bursts after;--
This Earth, upon whom day and night jointly, Darkness and Light,
have been decreed,
the broad Earth covered and enveloped with Rain,
may her benevolence lead us to paradise
